ATOPOS cvc proudly announces its collaboration with documenta 14 in the context of its artist residency programme from September 2016 to July 2017. During this partnership a number of documenta 14 artists will participate in the Occupy Atopos Residency and work on their project for documenta 14. This important collaboration launches with artist Bouchra Khalili whose residency in the Atopos premises started in September 8th 2016 and finishes in December 14th 2016.

On Monday December 12th 2016 at 19:00 ATOPOS cvc and documenta 14 invite you to celebrate the completion of Bouchra Khalili’s residency in the premises of ATOPOS cvc. The evening will start with greetings and talks about the initiation of this collaboration by Vassilis Zidianakis, Artistic Director of ATOPOS cvc, and Marina Fokidis, documenta 14’s Head of Artistic Office Athens, in the presence of the artist.

About Bouchra Khalili

Bouchra Khalili is a Moroccan-French artist. Born in Casablanca, she later studied Film at Sorbonne Nouvelle and Visual Arts at the École Nationale d’Arts de Paris-Clergy. She lives and works in Berlin and Oslo. Working with film, video, installations, photography, and prints, Khalili’s practice articulates language, subjectivity, orality and geographical explorations. Each of her projects investigates strategies of resistance as elaborated, developed, and narrated by individuals, often members of political minorities.

Khalili’s work is internationally exhibited. Her recent solo shows include “The Mapping Journey Project”, MoMA, Museum of Modern Art, New York, (2016), “Foreign Office”, Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2015), “Garden Conversation”, MACBA, Barcelona (2015), Living Labour, PAMM, Miami (2014). Her work is also included in international group exhibitions, such as at The Museum of Contemporary Art of Sydney  (2016),  the 8th Goteborg Biennale (2015), Kunsthaus, Zurich (2015), The New Museum, New York (2014), Van AbbeMuseum (2014), 55th Venice Biennale (2013), ZKM, Karlsruhe (2013), DAAD Galerie, Berlin (2013), “La Triennale – Intense Proximité”, Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2012), 18th Sydney Biennale (2012), 10th Sharjah Biennale (2011), among others.

She was the recipient of Abraaj Group Art Prize 2014, Sam Art Prize 2014, DAAD-Artists in Berlin (2012), Vera List Center for Art and Politics Fellowship (2011-2013).
