Théo Robine-Langlois has been participating in the #OccupyAtopos an international residency programme of the organization, between 27 April and 10 June 2026 in the framework of its program Affective Archives, which explores the possibilities ready to be enacted and released in our organization’s archive.

Théo Robine-Langlois joins the ATOPOS cvc International Artist Residency with the project écho ηχώ xoxo. Focusing on the ATOPOS cvc collection and developed in close dialogue with its artistic director, Vassilis Zidianakis, the project explores intersections between visual poetry, fashion and expanded forms of writing, with the support of the Fondation des Artistes.

This marks the second step of a broader investigation spanning in multiple sites, including Cordoba (Spain) where the artist will study the traces of Wallada Bint Al-Mustakfi, a poet from the 11th Century and Oslo (Norway), where future research will take place at the International Library of Fashion Research and its collections of printed ephemera. The first step took place in Paris, drawing on the Galliera’s archives and focusing on writing practices on clothing during the 20th century.

Drawing from garments and archival materials, the project approaches clothing as a site of language and inscription. Extending from the gesture of Wallada Bint Al-Mustakfi, known for embroidering poetry onto her clothing, the research also engages with modern and contemporary practices, including references, among others, to Madeleine Vionnet, Ann-Sofie Back and Miuccia Prada.

Through this dialogue, Robine-Langlois develops a series of visual poems that position fashion as a system of signs, opening new perspectives on the relationship between text, the body’s visual culture, and the garment. The residency will culminate in an exhibition presenting its outcomes at its new venue in Piraeus (Polydefkous 41A).

Théo Robine-Langlois (1990) grew up in Juvisy, a small town near the Orly airport in France. His writings address the weight of ordinary fictions, untying them through a dysfunctional language in which words and images collide. They craft and call for another world, inside and outside of the book and do so with the help of plants, spell-casting grandmothers, clouds, insurrections, floods or Xerox machines. He is working with musicians to make it sounds louder, and display his writings through exhibitions including Seulment (La niece, 2025) and Ton Coeurps Change (Tonus, 2023). A member of After 8 Books and Publication Studio Paris, he is also a correspondent for the online radio station *Duuu and produces videos with the collective lavillefumee.video. He organizes writing workshops in artistic and educational spaces. Robine-Langlois has published several books and vinyls including Crue (Dépense Défensive, 2026), Corbeau (Riga Project, 2025), Secrèt (Dépense Défensive, 2024), Journal Municipal (Les Petits Matins, 2024), Le Gabion (After 8 Books, 2021), and [. . .] (Nous, 2016).
