In the context of the RRRIPP!! Research Programme, ATOPOS cvc is participating in the ‘CRAFTING HERITAGE. Restoring, Reactivating, Resisting’ international online conference organised by the European Fashion Heritage Association (EFHA) in collaboration with the University of Florence and the Museo del Tessuto in Prato in Italy.
The symposium explores how fashion and its products – textiles, accessories and clothes – can inform a better understanding of the relationship between craftsmanship and heritage. The symposium also explores different definitions of crafts through three main themes: Restoring, Reactivating, Resisting.
Myrsini PichouRRRIPP!! Collection Research Advisor, will present the paper entitled ‘‘Crafted’ memory: nine paper dresses by Issey Miyake’. With the nine paper dresses donated in 2008 to ATOPOS cvc as a starting point and the story behind their creation by the Miyake Design Studio, the paper will also present the rare handmade paper garments from Japan from the RRRIPP!! Collection as well as their connection with the dresses of the donation.
Other participating organisations include the Museo del Tessuto in Prato, the University of Florence, the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity & Craftsmanship, Switzerland, the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation, France, and the Iuav University of Venice, amongst others.
