Polyrhythmia in Paper

International Library of Fashion Research

Για την Ελληνική εκδοχή

Show ’n Tell Sunday is a new series highlighting materials from International Library of Fashion Research. First up is Issey Miyake, shown and told by our librarians. Visitors will be able to take a closer look at selected materials by the late Japanese fashion designer, such as printed matter, photographic dias and other archival items, with their own bare hands. Each object will come to life through candid storytelling and personal anecdotes, and no prior knowledge of the library is required.

This edition of Show ’n Tell Sunday leads up to «Polyrhytmia in Paper», a new exhibition opening in January in collaboration with ATOPOS cvc and in the context of their interdisciplinary program ‘Affective Archives’.

The upcoming exhibition Polyrhythmia in Paper, curated by Steffi Stouri focuses on the polyrhythmia inherent in Issey Miyake’s pleated designs, showcasing garments and fashion ephemera from the archives of ATOPOS cvc and ILFR, as well as a video by Jackie Nickerson, originally commissioned by ATOPOS cvc and now part of its archive. The exhibition will also feature a newly commissioned piece by Manos Saklas; a listening space activated by sonic elements, and rhythmic patterns drawing from Miyake’s polyrhythmic methodologies.
