Dr. Daphne Mohajer va Perasan and d_archive (team of designers: Martina Ponzoni & Erisa Ibrahimi) has been participating in the #OccupyAtopos residency 2024. The research residency and workshop is in the context of its program Affective Archives and focuses on historical garments of the ATOPOS cvc collection and the process of reverse-engineering and digitizing them.

Daphne Mohajer va Pesaran (PhD)

Daphne is the Program Manager of the Bachelor of Textiles (Design) and lectures in fashion and textiles design and research in The School of Fashion and Textiles at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. Previously she taught fashion design at Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo. In her research and design practice she works with garments/products made from handmade paper and explores what sustainable materials and relationships can emerge in communities of human and nonhuman people. Daphne is currently undertaking research fellowships for the British Museum, the Australian Museum, and the International Specialized Skills Institute to research the use of paper for clothing in Japan and the Pacific Islands, as well as recycling used clothing into paper. She has recently published a book with Valiz, titled Radical Fashion Exercises: a workbook of modes and methods, co-edited with Dr Laura Gardner.

d_archive

d_archive is a platform which purpose is to support the preservation of fashion heritage and make it accessible digitally, while bringing true craftsmanship in the 3D space. By combining 3D technologies and traditional techniques, d_archive creates accurate 3D replicas of historical and vintage clothing and accessories and offers them freely to visitors. These replicas are not mere representations of an item’s appearance; they carry precious technical information, making them engaging educational tools that can be used to delve into fashion history, culture, and craftsmanship. d_archive is currently working with ModeMuseum of Antwerp and Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam.
