This talk explores the entanglement of humans, animals, plants, minerals and other forms of non- human life, challenging the politics of separation that underpin fascist and anti-trans ideologies. Rather than proposing fixed identities or stable categories, Maillet offers ecotransfeminism as a set of transformative tools, practices for inhabiting a world in constant flux. Through theory and lived imaginaries, the talk invites us to rethink kinship, toxicity, transition and interdependence as active, collective processes of becoming and introduces the tone for this exhibition cycle on ecofeminist politics. The event will be introduced by the curator of the public program Living Archive, Eleni Riga introducing us in the exhibition logic.

Clovis Maillet is a medieval historian and artist. A specialist in gender and kinship issues, he is the author of La parenté hagiographique ( Hagiographic kinship, 2014), Les genres fluides. De Jeanne d’Arc aux saintes trans (Fluid Genders, 2020), Un Moyen Âge émancipateur (Emancipatory Middle Ages, 2021), Écotransféminismes (Ecotransfeminisms, with E. Bigé, 2025) and Toutes nos larmes, l’antiféminisme et la mort (All Our Tears, 2026). Since the early 2000s, he has been developing an artistic practice combining performance, installation and film, in collaboration with other artists. He was a resident at the Villa Medicis – Académie de France in Rome in 2024-2025.
