The new exhibition space of ATOPOS cvc opens its doors on January 31 with Digging the Archive. An affective music party that invites audiences to activate the Paranoise Radio archive through hip hop, electro, bass, drum’n’bass, and techno sounds, continuing the dialogue with the body, space, and rhythm within the framework of the Affective Archive artistic programme.

Just a few metres from the port, the former warehouse that now hosts ATOPOS cvc’s activities on Polydefkous Street will be transformed into a dancefloor. The decks will be taken over by eight residents of the independent radio station Paranoise Radio: Α@Η2Ο, NTAVISIA, PADACZKA, PSONTIS, SATANAKEY, TSOURKOKO, ZAS & CERB.

Digging the Archive draws inspiration from the practice of vinyl digging and the ways in which sounds and stories that have left their mark can be rediscovered.

Affective Archive exists to remind us that every archive is not merely a collection, but a horizon — a potential always ready to be activated and released. Through dance digging at the port of Piraeus, every discovery becomes part of a living, collective musical memory.

On Saturday, January 31, visual recompositions of the station’s digital archives, music, records, and a pop-up cocktail bar await, inviting everyone to become part of the multiple identities of the independent online radio station Paranoise Radio.

AFFECTIVE ARCHIVES

Affective Archives explores the possibilities of activating the archive of ATOPOS cvc, as well as the archives of collaborating institutions, through partnerships with researchers, artists, musicians, DJs, scientists, and creators.
The programme focuses on the affective and reactivating dimensions of memory, as well as the stories that emerge through objects and bodies, placing the archive within an ongoing, open-ended process.
By recognising the archive as a perpetual process of searching for every impulse used in its creation and activation, invited collaborators engage with a wide range of relationships to archival practices. Researchers, artists, musicians, conservators, scientists, cultural practitioners, designers, and DJs explore the various connections, points of contact, and tensions that may arise across the archive.
By posing questions around the emotional and revitalising dimensions of memory, collaborators approach the affective archive as a process of memory-making, exploring both the stories of objects and the stories told by bodies.

PARANOISE RADIO

Paranoise Radio is a community of diggers, DJs, and producers sharing their passion for interesting and uncompromised music through daily radio shows on the web.
Paranoise Radio began broadcasting in April 2008 as a group of friends—university students at the time—setting up a pirate radio station. A single computer streamed 24/7 via a shoutcast server, while residents took over the streaming from their own homes.
Gradually, more and more DJs became involved with the radio, which now broadcasts from all major Greek cities. Over the following decade, Paranoise evolved into a reference point for forward-thinking music in Greece, closely following underground movements around the world.
Today, the station counts around 60 residents, broadcasting from major cities across Greece, as well as from Barcelona, Cologne, Berlin, Glasgow, Manchester, Hamburg, Malmö, and beyond.
