Dresstudy is the biannual publication of the Kyoto Costume Institute’s research and publicity activities. With the perspective that clothing is a “mirror that reflects what is happening in society,” the bulletin views fashion study as an interdisciplinary research subject that goes beyond existing boundaries. Ever since its start in 1982, the bulletin has enjoyed the contributions of researchers of various fields.

In the 61st issue of the journal, Vassilis Zidianakis contributed with an essay about the Not A Toy book and the ARRRGH! exhibition, exploring the way contemporary characters have affected fashion designers, leading to redefinition of earlier aesthetic standards.
